Sean McCabe is a designer/entrepreneur out of San Antonio, Texas who I follow closely, and have brought many products from in the past couple years. He hosts the Seanwes Podcast, which I highly recommend if you're a creative, entrepreneurial, driven individual. At the beginning of the year he posted a podcast about the benefits of writing daily.
At the 14:21 mark:
The difference between someone who is a writer and someone who is not, is the person who is not a writer writes when they have something to say, but the person who is a writer writes to find out what they have to say.
Since around the beginning of the year I've tried to be intentional about writing daily. It doesn't have to be something profound or intelligent, it could be completely random. Even if it's just to empty my mind of built-up thoughts onto paper, it proves to be greatly revelational. Some people may call it journaling, I will just call it writing. Its been the single most beneficial exercise I've done in my life in recent memory. Its how, and why, I started this blog. There's a ton of great insight in this podcast on why its a great habit, how to get started, and what to even write about.
Just this morning I woke up, opened up my laptop to a blank screen, and wrote 548 words off the top of my head. That may not seem like a lot, but if I did that every day I would have a book by the end of the year.
For anyone who is interested in writing, or the benefits of it, this is a great place to start. One of these days I'm going to post about how I personally do it, including the tool I use to keep it organized.
